The mission of the Echo Community Foundation is to empower individuals to serve their community by obtaining higher education in Washington State. ABOUT: In August of 2004, five recent college graduates with varied skill sets and educational experiences decided to establish a not-for-profit organization whose purpose was to give back to their community. Their original connection was they had all graduated from Redmond High School, had gone on to graduate from a four-year university, and wanted to help other kids have the same opportunities they had, in spite of the rising price of higher education in Washington State. A Board of Directors was formed, a mission statement written, and incorporation paperwork was completed. The ECHO Community Foundation (ECHO) was formed. The name ECHO is an acronym for Everyone Can Help Out – the fundamental backbone of ECHO. With the support and involvement of the community, ECHO will be able to provide scholarships to assist college bound students in the Puget Sound area achieve their academic goals. By definition, an echo is something that is repeated or imitated. The ECHO Community Foundation Scholarship will be given to a college bound student who commits to giving back to their community upon their graduation from college. EMAIL: echo@echocf.org |
